ALTA MARIA is a South African designer jewellery line. Our uniquely designed pieces with hand-selected embellishments will make you feel just as special. A composition of colours and textures allow our pieces to be styled with many different looks. We believe in 'everyday glam' and  ALTA MARIA's versatile pieces are suitable for any occasion: from a casual brunch with friends to a wedding.

Owner and designer, Mieke Vermeulen, has a background in the fashion design industry and holds a Master’s degree in Design from the University of Johannesburg. She describes the designs as ‘petite treasures’ inspired by exotic places and stories, as well as the rich cultural heritage inherent to life in Africa.

All the pieces are produced in-house, with great attention to detail and quality. The designs include gemstone and glass beads, fresh-water pearls, handmade glass cabochons, and Japanese seed beads, which are all set in hypoallergenic and lightweight stainless steel. We produce small runs of designer jewellery, and many ALTA MARIA pieces are limited edition.
